Even though you like this girl, you are afraid that if you tell her she will vanish. The broken SIM card represents how you feel about her, broken-hearted, because she does not know how you feel about her. Being in your hometown is a place where you feel safe and comfortable enough to talk with her. Your friend is there to encourage you and comfort you. She disappears because she is not sure of her feelings for you at this time and needs time to think.
