Dream Recall Tips
Remember your dreams with clarity and greater detail.

1. Set Your Intention at Bedtime.

This might be as simple as saying to yourself, "I will send the significant dreams to my conscious self. I will remember my dreams."

2. Wake Quietly.

This isn't always easy with morning distractions such as alarm clocks or significant others. Find an 'ambient sounds' alarm clock that gradually increases the volume to a peaceful music or even the sounds of nature.

3. Write it Down.

Sometimes we will wake in the middle of the night after a powerful dream. This is where a pocket notebook on your bedstand comes in handy. Immediately write down every detail you can remember. Often jotting a few key elements is enough to jog the memory in the morning. If you try to write down every little image and event, you may start to lose some of the dream, including any emotions you felt during the dream that can be a big memory marker for later.

4. The Dream Catcher.

A technique exists where you purposely set your alarm clock for a time when you might be in mid-REM. Waking yourself at three A.M. may be a good way to "catch" your dream. Though you may miss some of the message, this approach can provide the training wheels to easily recalling your dreams down the road.
